I have been on a plant based diet for two months now. I cannot say I have been religiously following it since there is no need to be hysterical about it or make it a stress factor for myself. I consider it more as a life-long learning and a step by step experience with right choices. I decided to cut out animal products from my diet more or less over night and as I´m still exploring I have noticed that some of the vegan products suit me better than others.
When it comes to home-cooking, I do only plant based dishes and when traveling I choose vegetarian options if no vegan available. I anyhow keep some “vegan” snacks with me to avoid the cheese and cream which seems to be the most popular ingredient in vegetarian portions.
While in Munich, my friend Sanne was kind enough to suggest a vegetarian evening for the Friday as she had heard about Prinz Myshkin and thought we should try it out. Summer in Europe is special, full of light and life, we were lucky to get a table outside.
We were sharing an antipasti plate, this could have been enough for the whole evening. I managed to flush down two glasses of proseccos with the filling starter.
My first ever tofu Stroganoff was DELICIOUS. It was as well a big portion. I´m not a fan of Tofu or any other soya products, but wanted to give this a try. This one was tasty and rich in flavour. Firm tofu and mushrooms made the portion feel almost like I was having a real Stroganoff with meat. Rice, broccoli and carrots matched well with this dish. Both the starter and main course were very good but maybe some more attention could be paid to the presentation? I mean I have seen prettier portions, even it is more important how the food tastes, in a restaurant I expect to see appealing portions. These days the camera eats first 😉
Sanne had Crespelle al Forno, oven baked buckwheat crepes filled with spinach and enjoyed her creamy dish.
The menu had many dishes which I would like to try. For me the place was something that I would recommend and even bring along a carnivore friend to try out something new.
