When Sanne told me, that we would try out a restaurant which has no normal menu, but an option for up to 8 course meal I was rolling my eyes for a moment. I was not sure if I could eat THAT much (I´m a girl who is known to have a good appetite, but even I have some limits). After she told me we could stop at anytime and jump into desert, I got excited “OK, I want to go and see this place, when do we go?”
Master´s Home sounded like a strange name for an Italian restaurant. On the logo, there is a terrier (most likely a bull terrier), which I also find very un Italian. After taking stairs down from the street, we stepped into a living room that NO interior designer had visited with a magic wand. It was a mix and match of old comfy chairs and furnitures, dark colors, stuffed animals and roses. There were hundreds of beautiful, big roses. White table cloths on the terrace tables (something which is not so common anymore) and white napkins made this place look like a real, good old-fashioned restaurant.
The moment I noticed that more or less all the staff were Italians (even the chef was every now and then opening a small window from the kitchen to the terrace and checking on the guests.) I knew this was going to be a good night.
There is just something that Italians do better than anyone else in the world and it is the food. I´m not a foodie, but I love good food. As a young girl I lived in Italy and this night reminded me of how and why I quickly gained an extra 10 kgs because of pasta. Grazie tanto!
When I told to the waiter that I was not going to eat any meat or fish, I did notice a slight disappointment in his eyes. We enjoyed 6 courses, when Sanne got seafood, I had truffles (I consider I got the catch of the day!?). Not going to tell the menu here since it is never the same, all I can say is that everything was fresh, small portions made with love.
Im´pretty sure Master´s Home was Sanne´s highlight in Munich.
I found the place very, very good as well, it is a place that you need to experience. Master´s Home got packed during the night, so it is advisable to make a reservation before you go, especially during weekend. We sat there for many hours, had a few drinks before, during and after the meal and both of us paid roughly 60€ bill. I cannot remember when I had such a value for my money in a restaurant.
